The 10 Day Detox

Detox Header

“The mere mention of the word detox conjures images of fasting, starvation, suffering and having to ‘give up’ your favourite foods and habits. Not this one!”

Margo Marrone, founder, The Organic Pharmacy

Can a detox ever be delicious? I think it can be. Throw out the ideas of deprivation and embrace a healthy, nutritious way to reset your system.  Fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables, nutrient-rich pulses and grains, and lean protein can create the most mouth-watering meals that keep you feeling full and satisfied all through the day with not a hunger pang in sight.

I believe a detox should not only be about diet – it should encompass all aspects of the mind, body and soul, so that together your system can work in harmony and at its very best. Mediation, gentle exercise and yoga complement a healthy meal plan.

Cleansing has so many benefits – from glowing skin to better moods, improved sleep patterns and more energy, it can also help boost physical and mental performance. So let’s get started!

I’ve worked with leading chefs and nutritionists to create some delicious recipes to help you get your detox off to the very best start.

Breakfast

It’s the most important meal of the day and even more so during a detox. I’ve created three delicious breakfast options to suit every lifestyle and cooking ability:

Super simple oats and berries

Speedy yoghurt and granola on-the-go

Almond and blueberry breakfast muffins

Snacks

Blood sugar control is one of the key things to conquer every day not just during a detox. I usually say it takes a good 21 days to reduce sugar cravings. It’s good to swap refined sugar with SMALL amounts of honey, dates or agave. Our Detox Capsules [LINK TO CAPSULES] also help reduce the sugar craving throughout the day significantly.

Lunch

Liven up lunchtimes with a nutrient-packed, wholesome meal that will help keep your energy levels stable until dinner.  I don’t believe a detox should be shy on flavour and these recipes will delight your taste buds as well as offer a healthy dose of essential vitamins and minerals.

Dinner

While this is still a detox, it’s really important that you feed your body with the right nutrients to ensure that it can still function at its optimum level. This simple and quick recipe can be on the table in just 30 minutes so however tired and hungry you are the end of the day, it’s possible to eat well without spending hours in the kitchen.

Detox details

The little extras make all the difference to a detox. Follow these simple, yet effective tips to get the most out of your cleanse.

In the morning:

  • Upon waking, drink a glass of warm water with the juice of half a lemon. This will help break down mucus in the body and help make the tissues alkaline.
  • After showering gently brush dry skin with our Skin Brush and Detox Body Oil in circular, anti-clockwise movements. Start from the feet and work up, always working towards the heart to encourage the return of blood and lymph flow.

In the evening:

  • Take three Detox Capsules with a full glass of water before bed

Happy cleansing!
